Affirm: Staff Product Manager, Capital

The Capital Product team builds the platform, tooling, and workflows that power Affirm’s $26+ billion Capital Program—enabling Capital Markets, Treasury, and Risk to operate with speed and confidence while safeguarding investor trust through accurate, auditable, and scalable systems.

We’re looking for a Staff Product Manager to lead our Capital Risk and Deal Reporting product area. This role owns some of the most investor-visible and profit-impacting systems at Affirm. You will reduce operational risk, enable more sophisticated and accurate forecasting, and ensure investor-grade reporting by building durable systems that scale with Affirm’s growth—ultimately helping Affirm deploy capital more efficiently and passing those gains through to our customers. 

This is a highly analytical, high-impact role for a product builder who is comfortable being deeply embedded in data and financial logic—and who brings a strong bias toward precision, correctness, and delivery.

What you’ll do

  • Own the Capital Risk & Reporting Vision: Define the long-term direction for Capital Risk and Deal Reporting systems, ensuring they scale with increasing volume, complexity, and scrutiny while supporting both operational reliability and forward-looking decision-making.

  • Turn Scale Into Better Capital Decisions: Enable analytical and forecasting capabilities that help Capital teams evaluate tradeoffs, plan ahead, and make higher-quality funding and P&L decisions as the platform grows

  • Build the Foundational System for Investor-Grade Accuracy: Lead the development of systems that deliver consistent, timely, and trusted reporting to our Capital investors, with a strong emphasis on reconciliation, traceability, and accuracy. 

  • Eliminate Fragility in Critical Workflows: Identify and remove sources of operational fragility by replacing manual processes, one-off logic, and ad-hoc checks with durable, automated, and well-instrumented product capabilities in our most critical workflows. 

  • Lead Cross-Functional Execution: Act as the product anchor across Engineering, Capital Markets, Treasury, Risk, Legal and Accounting—aligning stakeholders, translating complex requirements into clear plans, and driving execution through ambiguity.

  • Go Deep Where It Matters: Dive into financial logic, data models, pipeline dependencies, and edge cases to ensure systems behave correctly

  • Be Accountable for Outcomes: Own success metrics tied to operational stability, reporting confidence, forecasting quality, and stakeholder trust—ensuring the products you ship measurably improve how Capital operates at scale.

What we look for

  • Proven Product Execution at Scale: 7+ years of product management experience with prior experience in finance, accounting, capital markets, debt capital markets a big plus

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to lead and align diverse stakeholders across Engineering, Capital Markets, Treasury, Risk, and Accounting—driving clarity, tradeoff decisions, and progress across complex, interdependent initiatives.

  • Ownership Mentality in Ambiguous Environments: Demonstrated ability to take loosely defined problems, set direction independently, make tradeoffs, and drive work to completion with a strong bias toward delivery.

  • Deep Analytical and Data Proficiency: Comfortable working directly with data to validate assumptions, reconcile metrics, and investigate issues; strong proficiency in SQL and experience using data to drive decisions.

  • Exceptional Attention to Detail: High bar for correctness and quality with a demonstrated ability to work with large data sets, investigate discrepancy across systems, and drive reconciliation efforts. 

  • Technical Fluency: Able to engage deeply with engineers on system design, data models, pipelines, and tradeoffs, and to independently reason about technical constraints and implications.

 

 

Pay Grade – P
Equity Grade – 13

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $225,000 – $275,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $200,000 – $250,000

This is a “player-coach” role: while you will have the support of a bookkeeper, you are expected to be deeply involved in the daily financial operations, system optimization, and data integrity. Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Daily Operations: Lead and help execute all day-to-day accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger management. You will be the primary driver of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

  • Master QuickBooks Online: Act as the internal expert for QuickBooks Online, ensuring all transactions are categorized correctly and the system is utilized to its full potential for accuracy and scalability.

  • Proactive Cash Flow Management: Take full ownership of cash flow, aggressively maintaining low A/R levels and ensuring timely collections to fuel business growth.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, with a proven track record of managing “the books” while contributing to “the big picture.”

  • B2B Expertise: Extensive experience in a B2B environment, specifically working with physical products and inventory-heavy operations.

  • QuickBooks Power User: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required; you should be comfortable navigating every corner of the platform.

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to work fluently within Power BI for data analysis and performance tracking.

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A CPA is a strong plus but not a requirement.

  • Mindset: Highly organized, detail-obsessed, and passionate about building financial systems that support both creativity and scale.
