With 100,000+ active communities and approximately 116 million daily active unique visitors, Reddit is one of the internet’s largest sources of information. For more information, visit www.redditinc.com.

This role is completely remote-friendly. If you happen to live close to one of our physical office locations, our doors are open for you to come into the office as often as you’d like.

Advertising is the heart of Reddit’s business. Our Ads UX team is passionate about design, product and getting it right for our users and powers our business by playing a central role in shaping the experience for advertisers shaping Reddit’s monetization strategy. As we scale, the Ads Manager team is responsible for building stable, reliable, and robust tools that empower advertisers and account managers to efficiently manage ad campaigns at scale. Our goal is to enable seamless interactions between brands and users while driving value for both parties. We believe that great designers do their best work when simplifying complexity and our Ads Manager offers a unique opportunity to directly effect and steer the vision of a high-impact critical product.

As a Staff Product Designer on the Ads UX team, you will shape the strategic vision and lead the design of innovative, intuitive, and high-performance tools that empower advertisers and account managers to create, optimize, and monitor their ad campaigns across Reddit. Your expertise will directly influence the design direction of Reddit’s Ads Manager and guide efforts toward AI-driven automation to help transform our platform into a more intelligent and efficient advertising ecosystem.

You will take ownership of key design initiatives, influencing business-critical areas that impact the way brands connect with Reddit users. This will require strategic thinking, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a deep understanding of the broader advertising ecosystem. You will inspire and mentor other designers while pushing the design quality bar across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the design roadmap for the Ads Platform, ensuring that individual features roll up into a cohesive, non-fragmented ecosystem for advertisers.
  • Architect the foundational design patterns and logic-heavy workflows (e.g., campaign builders, reporting dashboards) that other designers in the Ads org will leverage to ensure consistency and speed.
  • Act as the primary design bridge to Engineering and Product for highly technical initiatives, such as AI-driven automation and API-led workflows, translating complex backend constraints into elegant user mental models.
  • Lead by example in the craft, setting the quality bar through high-fidelity prototyping and systems thinking. Conduct rigorous design reviews that uplevel the output of Senior and Mid-level designers.
  • Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, and Sales pods by synthesizing competing requirements into a single, unified design direction.
  • Invest deeply in the growth of the Ads Design team by providing actionable feedback on craft, strategy, and professional development, fostering a culture of high performance and psychological safety.
  • Partner with UX Research to transform raw advertiser data and market trends into actionable design principles that de-risk the product roadmap.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in product design, with a proven track record of navigating high-complexity enterprise systems. You have successfully managed design for products with deep technical constraints and multi-sided marketplaces.
  • 3+ years of specific experience in Ads, FinTech, or Marketplace systems. You understand the mechanics of auction-based systems, revenue attribution, and how design decisions impact business-critical KPIs.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates an ability to build scalable design frameworks and patterns, not just individual features. You can show how your work improved the efficiency or consistency of an entire design team.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a broad, loosely defined business goal and translate it into a concrete, executable design strategy.
  • High proficiency in documenting complex logic, state transitions, and data-heavy interactions. You are comfortable using high-fidelity prototypes to test hypotheses and communicate north star visions.
  • Experience partnering directly with Product and Engineering Leads to shape roadmaps. You are a persuasive storyteller who can defend design logic to stakeholders and align cross-functional teams around a unified user experience.
  • A clear history of formal or informal mentorship with experience conducting high-impact design reviews, establishing team processes, and helping Senior and Mid-level designers elevate their craft and strategic thinking.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits and Income Replacement Programs
  • 401k Match
  • Family Planning Support
  • Gender-Affirming Care
  • Mental Health & Coaching Benefits

You will partner closely with the VP of Product for Security and Compliance and work horizontally with product managers, UX, engineering, and go-to-market teams to align independently owned initiatives into coherent customer workflows and clear portfolio priorities. Rather than owning a single feature area, you will operate at a portfolio level, connecting work across teams, identifying gaps and opportunities, and helping ensure that product investments translate into measurable customer and business impact.

You will bring deep application security expertise to shape strategy in areas that lack clear ownership, including turning internal security capabilities and research into customer-facing products, identifying and validating emerging security use cases, and helping guide new ideas from early exploration to product-market fit. You will also help strengthen product-led partnerships with external vendors where they meaningfully expand customer value.

A core part of this role is elevating product decision quality across the team. You will coach and review PM work on areas that materially impact portfolio outcomes, helping sharpen problem framing, product requirements, go-to-market thinking, and escalation handling. You will use AI-native workflows, including tools like GitLab Duo and lightweight prototyping, to accelerate discovery, validation, and communication from concept to concrete outcomes.

Examples of the kinds of initiatives you’ll influence:

  • Turning internal security tools, practices, and research into differentiated, customer-facing capabilities within GitLab’s DevSecOps platform
  • Creating a repeatable path from early innovation ideas in Security and Compliance to validated products ready for broader investment and scale

What you’ll do

  • Lead product strategy across the Security and Compliance portfolio, with a focus on application security testing as a whole, to drive cohesive roadmaps and measurable growth in adoption and customer value.
  • Own end-to-end definition and delivery for high-impact initiatives such as packaging internal security capabilities for customers, strengthening vulnerability research, and incubating emerging products from ideation to product-market fit. Ensure clear success criteria, on-time delivery, and demonstrable impact on customer security outcomes and product adoption.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers in scanners to mentor, coach, and review their product work, including product requirement documents, roadmap decisions, and go-to-market thinking, to elevate the quality and consistency of product execution and improve the success of launches.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in engineering, design, partnerships, and go-to-market teams to shape positioning, launch plans, and strategic collaborations that expand the Security and Compliance business through increased adoption and engagement.
  • Drive a clear strategy for vulnerability research and security partnerships, working with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities and translate them into product outcomes that measurably improve product quality, coverage, and differentiation.
  • Use AI-first tools and workflows to quickly explore ideas, create prototypes, and communicate concepts. Increase the speed and quality of product discovery and decision-making by tracking improvements in cycle time and validation effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships across GitLab to influence without direct authority, connect work across teams, and help resolve complex escalations in a constructive, transparent way that reduces blockers and improves resolution time and stakeholder satisfaction.

What you’ll bring

  • Product management experience in application security or related security domains, with a track record of owning products from strategy through execution.
  • Background working across multiple security product areas or portfolios, not just a single feature, including exposure to topics like code scanning, dependency scanning, and security testing.
  • Experience operating at a broad, cross-functional scope, partnering closely with go-to-market, marketing, partnerships, and internal security teams to shape positioning and drive adoption.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and elevate other product managers, including reviewing product requirements and supporting them through escalations and go to market decisions.
  • Comfort acting as a right-hand partner to senior leadership, translating high-level business goals into clear product priorities and helping connect strategy across a portfolio.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with an interest in doing the legwork to build trust and influence without authority.
  • Hands-on, AI-first mindset using modern tools to prototype, visualize ideas, and communicate product concepts quickly, for example, by spinning up lightweight demos or UI drafts.
  • Openness to candidates from adjacent domains who bring deep product expertise, transferable security experience, and an interest in growing further into application security and DevSecOps.

About the team

The Security and Compliance product team owns a broad portfolio of security and compliance capabilities within GitLab’s DevSecOps platform, including application security scanners (code scanning, software composition analysis, and dependency scanning), secret detection, authorization, authentication, and other security features. The team is also expanding into vulnerability research, internal security productization, innovation incubation, and strategic partnerships. You’ll join a distributed team of product managers who report to the VP of Product for Security and Compliance. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, design, go-to-market, and partnerships teams across time zones in an asynchronous, documentation-first way. Our focus is on elevating how we build and ship security capabilities within GitLab, improving how we coach and develop product managers in the section, and exploring new opportunities to turn internal security expertise and emerging ideas into products with strong market fit.
